I was suicidal before I started taking it. I have been taking it for 6 weeks, and I feel wonderful. I was so exhausted and sedated that I might as well have been stoned. I could not drive.
I couldn't do anything. I had almost given up hope that it could improve and then - BAM! I am on 20 mg now. I took 10 mg the first week, and then tried taking 10 mg twice a day until I could handle a full dose without crawling into bed and passing out.

I stayed on it from June until January During this period I never once felt any relief from anxiety or stress. Actually, I was more on the edge than ever. February 1st I stopped cold turkey without any withdrawal symptoms I mean NONE! After a few weeks off this stuff my mind started to settle down and I could concentrate again.

Celexa works for me. It takes away my anxiety. Its safe for me and I'll never go off of it or try another again. These past two years have been so bad. Getting off of Effexor brought me to my knees. Celexa citalopram : "To update from my last review: I've been taking it for a month now.
I did only take half the 5 MG for a week and now I'm on the I'm finding my moods to be SO much better already and I can describe my feeling as being "lighter" A relationship made my anxiety worse, then I would be moody, that would cause issues and it was a cycle so this has really helped my home life and work life too as things don't bother me. I will say I do feel less motivated at work - I guess just a side affect.
My highs are still high tho, my lows just aren't as low. I'm friendlier and more positive at work I just don't feel like doing that much of the boring monotony. Lastly, I can't tell a difference in my sex drive which is good. If you're anxious or moody, or just feel some heavy unexplained cloud, I definitely recommend trying this! Celexa citalopram : "I've been on this for a week.
The first night I took it I felt really, really high but pretty anxious too so I cut the tablet in half for 6 days and on the 8th, took a full 10 MG. When I cut in half for 5 MG, had no sleep issues, when I take 10mg I do have sleep issues and I do have an anxious chest - not jittery but my stomach and chest feel anxious like I've had too much coffee except the rest of me is still tired.
After the first night though, I could already tell in my mood swings and I'm sticking with it. It's not unbearable by any means but I'll check back in after another week to update you! I would say Almost every negative review is about the first week or two - make it through that, eat healthy and force yourself to exercise even if you're tired from not sleeping thoroughly the night before. I believe the long term affects will be totally worth a week of feeling antsy.

Day 10 on Citalopram 10mg for anxiety
I was immediately put on 10mg of citalopram. I felt much better, but you're always aware that you may have a sudden turn. A year on and I've now upped it to 25mg as I still feel a its still a tiny bit there, some good and some not quite good days. Overall I can function pretty well in most situations, it seems to go away at its best if I keep busy, work etc.
I'll keep you all posted ". Just recently have been having severe anxiety and panic attacks daily so I decided to go back on to it. My main advice when you start out is stick with it - you will feel worse before you feel better. I know it works as has worked for me in the past. My main side effects are yawning, dry mouth, passing urine more frequently and feeling spaced out, but I know they will pass.
Please if you need reassurance they do work just stick with them!!! Or anything like it. After 5 days of feeling so ill from this I ended up in hospital as my body reacted to it. Heart rate of and high blood pressure. Whole body shaking. Chest pains.
The sweats. The anxiety and really depressed thoughts whilst taking it got so bad. Even though I only took for 5 days".
I was originally on the 20mg and around 12 months ago had my dose increased to 40mg. My symptoms have decreased significantly from what I would call fairly strong GAD and my mood improved overall to a very stable level. I found in the first weeks and months adjusting to the medication there were episodes of anger unrelated to anything happening in my life, which can be unsettling but it does pass. There were also times when I had general lethargy, almost like the flu, which only lasted days.
I would also add there was a strangeness to some of my thoughts. If anyone goes through something like that, don't worry it will eventually settle down!
The Citalopram also helps reduce the impact of certain negative thoughts.
